A Note About The Sound of Music

For many of our guests, a summer in Leavenworth isn’t complete without The Sound of Music. It has become a beloved tradition on our stage, and we share your love for it.

Sadly, The Sound of Music will not be part of our 2027 season.

For every show we produce, we apply for performance rights from the licensing company that represents it. When a national touring production is scheduled in our region, as one is in Seattle in summer 2027, rights for regional productions are typically restricted.

Leavenworth Summer Theater invests tens of thousands of dollars in performance rights each year, and while this news is disappointing, it is part of the landscape of theater. It happens roughly once a decade; the last time was in 2015.

The good news: we plan to apply for the rights again for our 2028 season!

In the meantime, we invite you to join us in 2027 for Les Misérables and Oklahoma! at the Ski Hill Amphitheater.

Thank you for your continued support of live theater in Leavenworth!
